Room Reveal & Moodboard: The Office

My head gears have been turning for a while now about what to do with our second bedroom. Here is the dilemma. Our house has only two bedrooms and yet we need to make space for a dressing room, a guest room and an office all in one medium sized room.

Here is a glimpse of the room in question. Don't mind the mess, I took the picture from outside for a reason: the giant stack of stuff piled up in the other corner (for those who don't know, we moved in about a week and a half ago...).

And this is what I'm envisionning...

This is more of a dream than a reality - no I can't afford Francois Nielly Paintings just yet...

Anywho, the plan is to have a small wardrobe on one side of the fireplace and a Lack Ikea bookcase on the other. A sofa bed will have to do for our guests for now - not ideal but space efficient. I need a large mirror and a large rug to get dressed comfortably and the rest is office space.

A few of the items are great Ikea finds: the rug ($299), mirror ($229), lack bookcase ($179) and sofa bed ($1,599) - I have yet to test its comfort in the store...

The chandelier ($299) is from Beacon Lighting and the desk ($599) is from Freedom.

The replica Philip Stark Ghost chair ($199) and the Ferruccio Laviani lamp ($169) are from Matt Blatt.

The folders ($14), boxes ($19) and paper bin ($79) are all from Kikki K.

The pillows are from Etsy shops Kyoozi for the blue pillow ($39) and CoupleHome ($32 for 2)

The white Claudine table lamp from EcoChic, the black Manto shelf unit from Deja Vu Interiors, and the Croc butler tray from Coco Republic don't have their prices displayed on the respective websites so I'm crossing my fingers for after Xmas sales!

What do you think?

Home Lusting: Mount Pleasant Shootspace

If you don't have time to waste, don't visit Shootspaces. A London based business featuring a variety of delicious (mostly English) homes available for photoshoots. This home in Mount Pleasant is featured location of the week. I wish someone would send me there on a holiday. I'm sure I could find something or someone to shoot if necessary.

Real Living’s 100 Ideas for a Happy Home

Back in July, Real Living came out with a brilliant article - 100+ ideas for a happy home. It reminded me of those little things that make a house a home that don't involve splurging on big ticket items. I really wanted to share with you a few of my favorite tips for the living area:

Incorporate older items into your d├ęcor for a lived in feel.

Midas Touch

I've been fixating on oversized gold mirrors these past few days. They make a room look so much larger and add a touch of glamour!

Etsy Pillow Roundup

I absolutely love the kind of pillows that Caitlin Wilson uses in her designs. They are so simple yet so chic. Unfortunately, most of the shops she mentions on her blog only ship in the United States.

But with Etsy as my new best friend, I am delighted to have found loads of pillows and pillowcases that I love, and they ship to Australia! Here is the roundup:

Mirror Mirror On the Wall

In retrospect I didn't quite choose the best time to start a blog... For those who don't know we have settled on our new house last Friday and have been plastering and painting all week!! Today was a huge milestone as we finished cleaning up all the painting mess and got to unwrap all the house shopping I did on Monday (kitchen cutlery, crockery and essential stuff mostly) and placed everything in the cupboards in the kitchen! It is finally starting to look like an actual home! I also unwrapped my new bedside table lamps in the bedroom to make sure it looked good with the new bedroom wall colour.

Tomorrow is official moving day! Will try to post some pictures soon! In the meantime, here are a couple of inspiration images for mirrors. I found a similar looking one at Ikea and am thinking of picking it up soon. Please don't snob me for shopping at Ikea... Adelaide doesn't have a great  range of furniture stores so I will most likely have to get a few items shipped...

Below is the Ikea Songe mirror priced at $229 AUD.
