Do you remember this incredible transformation of an 18th-century ranchhouse in Punta Gorda, Uruguay? It was published in the April 2010 issue of Home Beautiful Australia. I apologize if this post is a little passé, but I was browsing through the old HB issue over the holidays (guess I was seeking to escape the Christmas decoration overload of December magazines) - and I though maybe the new 2011 ethnic-print-enthusiastic versions of us might like to re-appreciate this South American beauty. Take a close look at the selection of antique tiles and rustic wood!
The homestead belongs to Cynthia Kern and Federico Bonomi (and their 4 children). It took an extensive renovation process to turn it into a liveable space but the couple managed to keep its ancient flair. I love the spanish accents mixed with the french provincial look and am especially fond of those painted floorboards in the dining room - the are an Aubusson carpet reproduction painted by a Peruvian artist. Would you be daring enough to paint a carpet replica on your floorboards?? I wouldn't - but the result is nonetheless brilliant!
