It's time for another 1st (design) Class, in which my favorite bloggers will get to share their favorite trend, classic, designer, room and design rule. All in the hope to shed some light on the nebulous world of interior design!
This week I'm pleased to welcome the sweet Mackenzie from Design Darling. At a young age (21), Mackenzie runs a hugely popular blog and interns for the iconic Rue Magazine! She has bucket loads of style and personality. She never fails to inspire and feature the best of the best in fashion and interiors. If you haven't discovered her blog yet, you are missing out!
Hi there! I'm Mackenzie from Design Darling and I'm excited to share a few of my favorites with you on Savvy Home today.ONE TREND
Online magazines! I'm an editorial intern and writer for Rue Magazine and I'm inspired watching some of my favorite bloggers parlay that experience into successful careers in this burgeoning field. I love my print magazines as much as the next style blogger but having fresh content at my fingertips every month is endlessly exciting!
ONE CLASSIC
White subway tile! I think it's funny when people dismiss subway tile as a trend. It might be popular of late but it's timeless in my eyes! Few materials transition so seamlessly from a summer home to an industrial interior. The fact that subway tile works with so many styles and provides a neutral backdrop to any appliances or cabinetry makes it an instant classic in my book!
ONE DESIGNER
Nobody does color quite like Anna Spiro. Her understanding of pattern and scale gets me every time. Hopefully one day I'll make it to her store in Brisbane, Australia!
ONE ROOM
I keep coming back to this Hamptons interior by Amanda Nisbet. Blue, pink, and white is my very favorite color palette and the piping detail on the sofas is delightful! It's exactly where I'd like to be this summer.
ONE DESIGN RULE
Billy Baldwin once said, "Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style." I can't think of a better design philosophy. Design is supposed to be fun, like this Eddie Ross tablescape. If you love it, do it!

PS - If you have a blog and wish to participate to this series, drop me a line! I would love to hear from you.
