This week I'm welcoming the amazing Nichole from Parlour. Nichole is an interior + furniture designer and she has serious talent! She has a keen eye for all things homewares and furniture and always seems to be working on some kind of gorgeous DIY. If you're not already a follower, you are missing out!
1. My One Favorite Trend right now is...
Our return to gold! Now these are words I NEVER thought I would say. But, there is something so lush and rich about gold. I have to say that nowadays I have full on gold fever. I especially love mixing metals and adding silver. Nothing like silver and gold intermingling for a truly chic look and feel.
2. My favorite classic aspect of design right now is....
The Gallery wall. This trend has been around forever in some form or another. And, will probably continue to be popular for a very long time to come. Another name for them are Salon walls, as back in the day, people would just build their art collection organically on the walls of their "salon," which is like a formal living room for today. Just a little tidbit of background on this classic design choice.
3. Favorite Designer.
Anna Spiro. Hands down. The lady has some kahunas to be able to mix color and pattern like she does. Consequently she also has an amazing blog with insane amounts of inspiration that I highly recommend you check out.
I have loved this room for quite a while. It has classic elements, a real dose of femininity and then of course that modern, quirky edge that makes it pitch perfect.
5. Favorite Design Rule.
I hate rules, therefore. My one design rule that I adhere to religiously is....There ARE no rules. I love a good mish-mash. I love mixing patterns, colors, metals, eras, cultures. It makes things unique, interesting, and most important of all...personal. No holds barred.
