Highlight number 1 is La Colombe d'Or. An institution in the art world. La Colombe d'Or is a restaurant and a hotel located in picturesque St Paul de Vence in the back country of the Cote d'Azur (or French Riviera).
Opened in the 1920's, it really took off in the 1940's and 1950's when the Colombe d'Or was frequented by artists such as Miro, Braque, Chagall, Calder, and Cesar. The legend is that some of them would pay their meals with a painting or a drawing on their napkins, which would explain the Colombe d'Or's impressive art collection.
So we had lunch there with the fam. It was sunny, hot, delicious and, dare I say, beautifully accompanied with a few yummy bottles of rose!
From left to right: my uncle, godmother, mom, M, and me!
M was really excited to tackle this delicious looking piece of meat while everyone else was enjoying a Loup de Mer (a delicious fish) with mousseline (a fluffy lemon butter) which was divine!
Mom and I snooped around the hotel...
After lunch we had a little walk in St Paul de Vence...
M during a little French lesson, quickly learning that "eau potable" meant drinking water!
That's it for now. Much more to come!
