Traveling Toes: A Weekend Drive to Yankalilla

M plays footy (Australian Rules Football – if you don’t know what that involves, it’s basically full-contact, “no pads, no helmets, just balls”)  for a small town called Yankalilla. It's a gorgeous part of the world. The world-class beaches are a 5 minute drive away, there are rolling hills, Sunday markets, wild kangaroos and all sorts of other country wonderfulness.

While I’m not a big fan of sport at all, I love going to the footy on weekends to support him. In all honesty, the fact that he plays South Australia's most scenic towns might have play in his favor. I get to go for long weekend drives with a girlfriend, stop for a lazy lunch at a winery or a pub, do some good old country antiquing, and watch a bit of footy while gossiping over a warm soy latte.

I knew Yankalilla was a beautiful place, but I had no idea how beautiful! Turns out that in the real estate market, Yankalilla is like the Hamptons of South Australia! Let’s have a peek at two beautiful pieces of real estate, shall we?

House 1 is a 14 room, 5 bedroom bluestone home circa 1850 nestled on 4.4 acres of picturesque grounds... It needs a bit of work and zhushing but it's pretty gorgeous isn't it?

House 2 is a 6 bedroom homestead with a poolhouse and a separate self-contained studio.

Both houses are going for around 1.65M. Which one would you choose? Any preference?
