House Crush

I thought that while I'm trotting around Paris is the perfect time to feature America's favorite resident frenchman, Robert Couturier. You might have seen it a million times already (so have I) but I just cannot get his NYC loft out of my head.

The Coveting: Live Like You

While I am away, I've asked some blogging buddies to cover for me in my Coveting series.

This week's coveting is brought to you by the delightful Jill from Live Like You. Jill is an amazing interior designer, shop owner and co-founder of a charity called Knock Out Abuse. She is wonderful all around and loves to share little bits of her exciting live on Live Like You, along with some seriously yummy interiors! Her blog is a must!

1st (design) Class: Lazy Sunday

It's time for another 1st (design) Class, in which my favorite bloggers will get to share their favorite trend, classic, designer, room and design rule. All in the hope to shed some light on the nebulous world of interior design!

This week I'm delighted to welcome a good 'real life' friend of mine, the amazing Kylie from Lazy Sunday. Kylie is the vintage queen! From home decor to fashion to music, Kylie knows everything about anything vintage. She walks into a vintage shop and within 5 minutes, she's found and collected everything worth seeing in the shop. She does the same with eBay, where she scored two gorgeous peacock chairs and a stunning mid-century coffee that we are all jealous of. Best of all, she shares it all on her delightful blog!

1. A trend - the pale grey sofa. My taste is definitely more on the eclectic side and the addition of a pale, modern sofa to the lounge area really lifts it to a modern space.

2. A classic - the eames chair. It will always be my favourite.  Perfectly stylish and cosy all at the same time.  I have already set my lounge up with a corner library in 'eames purchase' preparation.

3. A designer - if I had to pick one designer, I would pick 'everyone'.  Being able to see other peoples spaces via blogs such as 'Savvy Home' and 'The Selby' always inspires me to display and express myself through individual pieces I have bought over the years.

4. A room - I have always wanted a round bed covered in fur...medieval style, so here is the closest picture I could find to that!

5. A rule - not one for traditional rules but generally I prefer not to have 'matching' items, rather individual pieces of design. Whether it be an item of furniture or a vintage piece of costume jewelery hanging on the wall, these pieces provide a lovely window into the character of the person living in the house, something I find difficult to read in a 'matchy matchy' home.

Modest Kylie has forgotten to mention that the bottom two pictures are of her own house. Did I say vintage queen?
