People like Jeffrey Bilhuber amaze me. To have such
dedication and fidelity to texture and pattern is something truly admirable. I
would never be able to commit to gingham walls, orange lacquer ceilings,
studded brass nail head trims, or a Chinoiserie tapestried bedroom, let alone all mashed up together. But the fact
that some people can commit to that stuff means we get to feast our eyes and admire other people's courage.

Someone once said "make sure that the reflection in your mirrors is worth looking at". I don't think anyone could have executed that better than Bilhuber.
Have you spotted the kitchen? I mean don't get me wrong, it's definitely the kitchen of someone who doesn't cook (he gets healthy meals prepared and delivered by Almond Ryan - I would get food encrusted allover that sisal rug), but it's definitely delicious, no?
I never fell into the antler's trend. But somehow, they don't make this room any less brilliant.
None of these items would be at the top of my list for my bedroom decoration, but that doesn't mean this bedroom doesn't seem incredibly cosy, right?

Go read the interview and see the rest of the house on NYSD.
In other exciting news (for me at least), the blog has now moved to its own domain: savvyhomeblog.com. More fun changes are coming. Ready, get set, bookmark!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on becoming a URL lady!! I agree with you- this house has lots of gutso. I love the wood stenciled floors, too! I also love the quote you left- "Make sure the reflection in your mirrors is worth looking at." WOW!

Sam and Victoria: Thanks, I never thought a URL would make me so happy :)
ReplyDeleteChelsea: I'm definitely sold on a lacquer ceiling for my next place... just need to find the right shade. That Hermes orange is gorg, but I'm not sure it I could commit to it!
