Happy Woman's Day: My favorite Women in Design

In honor of International Woman's Day, I thought It'd be fun to celebrate my favorite women in design. When it comes to interior design, these women are at the top of my list. They're successful, they've built wonderful businesses mostly from the ground up, and they continue to surprise and inspire. Let's get started, shall we?

The Overachiever: Kelly Wearstler
Is this a surprise to anyone? With an impressive interior design portfolio that includes the most beautiful homes AND the Viceroy hotel range; to a home AND fashion line to rival the best; to a gorgeous blog and a happy and well-balanced family life. I still haven't figured out how Kelly Wearstler does it all.

The Worldly Antiques Dealer: Michelle Nussbaumer
Michelle Nussbaumer is a shop owner and interior designer. She scours the world in search of items to sell in her shop Ceylon & Cie, a treasure trove for all things antiques with a twist. The first time I came across images from her shop, I literally fell off my chair. The quality of items was mind blowing. Ceylon & Cie now sell online through 1st Dibs and Dering Hall.

The Magazine Editor: Michelle Adams
I admire Michelle Adams for building Lonny from the ground up, in a time when shelter mags were folding at an alarming rate. Her vision for Lonny is truly inspiring and contagious, and ensures that Lonny remains the number one online decor mag. Lonny has a truly unique look and I'm sure I speak on  behalf of all of us when I say we're looking forward to the new issue coming out on Saturday!

The Fabric Designer: Lulu DeKwiatkowski
Lulu DeKwiatkowski is the founder and designer of Lulu DK, a line of fabrics, soft furnishings, wallpaper, dinnerware, rugs, and most recently a furniture line in collaboration with Elite Leather. Her aesthetic is exquisite. Also, can we just remind ourselves how much we fell in love with her house featured in Lonny!

The Entrepreneurs: Susan Feldman and Alison Pincus
Susan Feldman and Alison Pincus are the co-founders of One Kings Lane. Need I say more? What would we do without them? These incredible women had a vision and stuck to it to make it happen. I am in awe of their success every time I visit the site (which is daily). I admire their entrepreneurial steel.

The Interior Designer: Isabel Lopez Quesada
Of course this was the most difficult one to choose. I have so many in mind! But because of my love for Spanish design, I thought Isabel Lopez Quesada was an appropriate choice. Her designs are always incredibly tasteful and jaw dropping without fail. She is one seriously talented lady.

The Design Duo: Sasha Adler and Lauren Gold
These two seem to be taking the world (of design) by storm. Directors of Interior Design firm Nate Berkus Associates, Sasha and Lauren deserved a mention even though Nate Berkus is technically a man. At their young age, Sasha Adler and Lauren Gold are practically running one of the most successful interior design businesses in the US. I had to give them credit!

The Blogger: Nicole Gibbons
Another hard one. There are so many talented bloggers out there. But I felt like the blogger who goes above and beyond the most is Nicole Gibbons of So Haute. She flies around the globe to to feature truly original content: home tours and interviews with designers, other bloggers, and design assistants. It's a huge effort on her part that must be recognized.

Your turn: tell me who are your favorite women in design?
