Q&A: with Barbara Sallick, Founder of Waterworks

I'm always inspired by successful women that have built amazing companies from the ground up. Barbara Sallick is one of those women. In 1978, Barbara, inspired by the European bath experience, created Waterworks, bringing luxury bath products to the American market. Today, Waterworks remains the industry benchmark for high-end bath products, offering unparalleled craftsmanship and design, from faucets to tiling.

Barbara is now Senior Vice-President of Waterworks and board member at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America. She has published two books: The Definitive Guide to Designing the Perfect Bath and Waterworks: Inventing Bath Style. She also authors a weekly blog called The Perfect Bath.

This fall, Waterworks paired up with Roman And Williams, one of my favorite architecture firms (remember that gorgeous office above?) to create a unique line of fittings and tile that is reminiscent of great American design and a sense of traditional craftsmanship. Think industrial unpolished brass, burnished nickel and carbon fittings in a wonderful tension between masculine and feminine. It is utterly gorgeous.
