Beauty in the Details: Bailey McCarthy's Houston Home

I'm not really a fan of all-white baker's kitchens that seem to be in every single magazine these days. First, I don't bake. Sugar is bad for you and because of that, I've never taught myself to bake. When I do have an occasional sweet treat, it's at the restaurant (note: the key here is occasional).

Second, food is sexy, cooking is sexy and so logically, a kitchen should also be sexy. Cue in the dark lacquer. The marble. The jewel like hardware. Cue in Bailey McCarthy's kitchen. Now that's a kitchen where I can imagine myself at night, simmering a chicken cacciatore or roasting a leg of lamb (in that cray La Cornue oven) while sipping on a glass of Vintage Osoyoos Larose or Beaujolais Nouveau. Anyone with me?

One of my favorite rooms in that house (other than the kitchen of course) is the living room. Can you blame me? I'm sharing 10 reasons why I love Bailey's living room today on Damask & Dentelle. Hop over for the full post.

And if you haven't seen Bailey's house in Matchbook yet, do it. It's incredible.

  2. Ah! I love this kitchen too and am totally with you on the colors. I can't wait to someday have a home where I can actually pick out the cabinets and counter tops, etc. I also just love the rolling counter - I bet that offers a lot of versatility.
